Seit 1969 fotografierte der Werbefotograf Reinhard Wolf mit einer Großbildkamera Fassaden von interessanten Gebäuden und wurde mit der Serie „Faces of Buildings“ (1976) international bekannt. 1979–1980 widmete er sich den spitzen New Yorker Wolkenkratzern. Das neogotische Life Insurance Building (1928) und das moderne Merchandise Mart (1974) mit seiner Aluminium- und Glasfassade prägen die Skyline Manhattans.

Since 1969, advertising photographer Reinhard Wolf has been photographing interesting building façades with a large-format camera, becoming internationally known for his 1976 series, 'Faces of Buildings'. From 1979 to 1980, he focused on the pointed skyscrapers of New York. The neo-Gothic Life Insurance Building (1928) and the modern Merchandise Mart (1974), with its aluminium and glass façade, dominate the Manhattan skyline.
